Sixty-five colors were mixed to give the original antique look back to this thangka.
The colors had to match exactly with the preserved original colors of the old picture. The viewer must not be able to tell any difference between the old and new colors.
The effort of mixing these colors to match significantly exceeded the effort of retouching with a brush.
Not all areas were repaired because more would mean that the thangka will lose its originality.
