To preserve the old character of the thangkas, we do not normally restore them completely. As many original areas as possible should be preserved. This Avalokiteshvara scroll painting had numerous color breaks on its surface. To eliminate all of them, the entire painting would have had to be completely painted over.
But this was not done. It was precisely restored using the original colours, but after the work was completed, it can still be seen today that it is an ancient scroll painting.
