Vajrayogini Tsa Tsa Mold

This tsa-tsa mould was used to make tsa-tsas of Vajrayogini.

Vajrayogini, also known as Vajradakini [»Diamond Skywalker«], is a female Buddha figure. These archetypal female deities symbolise the Buddhist insight that enlightenment transcends all sexual identity.

She is usually depicted as a frenzied, naked female figure. The dakini's role is to integrate the powers released by the practitioner during visualisation. In Tibetan, »Dakini« is rendered as »Khadroma«: »Kha« stands for sky space, the emptiness [»Shunyata«] that has become an image; »dro« means walking and moving; and 'ma' indicates the female gender. Therefore, the Khadroma is a female figure who moves on the level of the highest reality, and her nakedness symbolizes the realization of unveiled truth. The home of the dakinis is said to be the mystical realm of Orgyen.

The master's staff [»khatvanga«] rests in the crook of her left arm. At its tip are a vajra cross symbolising the union of wisdom and compassion, a vase containing an elixir and three heads [symbolising the overcoming of the three poisons of the mind: freshly severed, in decay and as skulls].

The condition of the mold is excellent, with no scratches or imperfections. Only the engravings on the stamp surface are slightly worn from years of use, but this is hardly noticeable.

It is difficult to estimate the age, but its good condition suggests that it was made in the 20th century.
