On this Tsa Tsa Buddha Vajrasattva is depicted sitting on a singlelayered lotus throne.
Vajrasattva [Skrt., word: »diamond being«; Tib.: »Dorje sempa« རྡོ་རྗེ་སེམས་དཔའ།] stands for the highest, diamond, uncreated nature. His name means »whose nature is the vajra« [tib. »Dorjee«]. He always wears the five-pointed crown of the ruler over the laws of nature. With his right [= male] hand he holds the thunderbolt scepter [vajra] in front of his chest, his left [= female] hand rests on his thigh and, turned inward, holds the bell [Sanskrit: »ghanta«, tib.: »dril bu«].
Its attribute of the vajra symbolizes the indestructible and eternal absolute, the bell the transience, for the world of appearances is unstable like a bell tone. Vajrasattva embodies the ability to remove spiritual impurities of all kinds, especially the neglected duties towards the teacher and one's own spiritual development.
The whole cusped-arch rectangular shape is bordered by a raised rim, creating a protective frame. The frame has a reddish colour, as does the back. The background of Vajrasattva is dark blue. Vajrasattva himself was probably originally gold, but has since darkened.
It's easily to recognise the vajra or dorje in his raised right hand, as well as the bell resting on his lap in the left hand.
Condition: The Tsa Tsa is in very good condition, there is only a small piece missing from the lower edge.
