Very old Bodhisattva Manjushri Tsa Tsa

15th - 16th cent.

S o l d

This very old tsa tsa shows the Bodhisattva of Wisdom Manjushri on a single layered lotus throne.

In his right hand he holds his sword of knowledge, with which he cuts through the roots of ignorance. On his left, a square Tibetan book [a manuscript of the Prajnaparamitra Sutra] rests on a lotus flower.

The Tibetan characters on the Tsa Tsa are heavily weathered and unfortunately no longer legible today, even for experts.

The Tsa Tsa was probably repainted in more recent times.

Age: 15th - 16th century - possible even older
