Medical Buddha Bhaisajyaguru Tsa Tsa

This Tsa Tsa shows in the center the Buddha of Medicine Bhaisajyaguru [1]. Directly below him a Stupa [g] is visible, while above the four-armed Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara [2] is depicted. To the right and left of him symbols for moon [a] and sun [b]. Below it, the Tibetan letter 'Omm' [c] appears twice.

The age of the Tsa Tsa and the small size of the deities depicted make it difficult for some of them to determine with certainty, so some of the following identifications are to be seen be seen under a certain reservation. Second row below Avalokiteshvara: Amogasiddhi ? [3] on the left and Ratnasambhava ? [4] on the right. In the row below Bhaisajyaguru: Akshobhya ? [5] on the left and Amitabha ? [6] on the right. Next to the Stupa on the left Ratnasambhava ? [7]again and Vairocana [8] on the right.

In the lower row on the left Buddha Shakyamuni, on the right Vairocana and on the far right an unidentified deity [11] in Yab Yum position.

In the second row from top right and left the letter 'AA' [d] and in the bottom row twice the letter 'Huumm' [e].

Consecrated seeds and other plant remains are embedded on the back.

The above mentioned letters are so called "seed syllables" which contained within mantras. These seeds do not have precise meanings, but are thought to carry connections to spiritual principles.
