This tsa tsa shows the founder of the Gelug [yellow hat] order Tsongkhapa [Tibetan: rje tsong kha pa blo bzang grags pa - རྗེ་ཙོང་ཁ་པ་བློ་བཟང་གྲགས་པ་] sitting on a single layered lotus throne.
Tsongkhapa is shown here with the gestures and implements that came to typify him in representations. He is making the teaching gesture, each handholding a stem of lotus between thumb and forefinger. The lotus stalks rise behind him. They support, respectively, a volume of the Transcendent Wisdom Sutra on his left.
Tsongkhapa ["The man from Tsongkha", [* 1357 † 1419], usually taken to mean "the Man from Onion Valley", was a famous teacher of Tibetan Buddhism whose activities led to the formation of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism.
He is also known by his ordained name Losang Drakpa [Wylie: blo bzang grags pa] or simply as "Je Rinpoche
