High quality old painted clay Amitayus tsa tsa of a Bodhisattva of long life. Stands on a one inch custom base. It is the finest classic type Mongolian Bodhisattva Tsa Tsa.
The Tsa Tsa possesses a near magical beauty, charisma and liveliness. Amitayus has a lively, expressive face with detailed features. His aura of emanating energetic contrasts with his calm inner strength and and sublimely idealistic face. A masterpiece extremely rarely found in this form and design. Amitayus, the Buddha of Infinite Life, is synonymous with Amitabha, the Buddha of Infinite Light, and resides in the heavenly abode of Sukhavati, also known as the Western Pure Land. He is known in Japan as "Amida".
Both Amitayus and Amitabha are essentially the same entity manifesting in different forms - the former appearing as a Bodhisattva and the latter as a Buddha.
The casting is crisp, painting fine, and the figure is exquisite. There is some minor paint loss and repainting as seen in the photos. The custom stand was just made.
The Bodhisattva Amitayus sits in meditative equipoise on a lotus seat. He holds a longlife vase filled with amrita - the nectar of immortality or the elixir of eternal life - and the leaves of the Ashoka tree.
