Three Bodhisattvas Thogchak
This very old [19th century or older] Thogchak shows three bodhisattvas Avalokiteshvara [top], Manjushri [bottom left ] and Vajrapani [bottom right]. Manjushri manifests supreme intelligence, insight, and wisdom; Vajrapani represents the power aspect of complete enlightenment; and Avalokiteshvara embodies unlimited loving kindness and compassion. The Tibetan name of Avalokiteshvara is Chenrezig [Tib.: spyan ras gzigs], of Vajrapani phyag na rdo rje [Tib.: Chagna Dorje] and of Manjushri Jampel [Tib.: 'jam dpal].
The strongly worn surface shows that this badge or medal has closely been worn to the body for ages. Presumably it is that old that it has multiply been passed on from father to son or from mother to daughter. At some point, unfortunately, the eye on the top of the Thokchags broke up.
