The "Diamondsutra" is the shortest version of the Prajnaparamita and belongs to the most common version of the Prajnaparamita texts. The detailed title is 'Phags pa shes rab kyi pha rol tu phyin pa rdo rje gcod pa'.

From the lateral inscription on the first page [see detailed picture 3] it can be seen that this is page 39 of the first volume of the Diamond Sutra Text.

The Diamond Sutra is a Mahayana [Buddhist] sutra from the Prajnaparamita, or "Perfection of Wisdom" genre, and emphasizes the practice of non-abiding and non-attachment. The Diamond Sutra is one of the most influential Mahayana sutras in East Asia, and is a key object of devotion and study in Zen Buddhism.

A copy of the Chinese version of Diamond Sutra, found among the Dunhuang manuscripts in 1907 by Aurel Stein in the Mogao Grottoes near what is now the Chinese city of Dunhuang. It was dated back to 11 May 868. It is, in the words of the British Library, "the earliest complete survival of a dated printed book nearly 600 years before the Gutenberg bible.
