This old traditional Ladakhi ceremonial crown is made of silk and leather and is inlaid with turquoise, coral, carnelian and other semi-precious stones. The inside of the crown is lined with yellowish fabric.
The entire surface is set with hundreds of different stones. The five large stones set with small pearls in the center of the tips of the crown are particularly eye-catching. These are two dark red carnelians, a red agate and two light coloured stones.
The five large main stones are each surrounded by many small pieces of turquoise. Each of these turquoises is individually framed by small coral beads.
The outermost row of beads is probably made of yellowish hardwood.
The crown is in excellent condition with no missing stones or damage of any kind.
The weight is approximately 1.7 lbs. | 750 grams. The height is approximately 6.8 " | 17 cm and the diameter is approximately 0.9 " | 23 cm.
