Tibetan Hair Bead [1]

Tibetan: »te-jo«

This jewellery is still traditionally worn by Tibetan women today by threading a strand of hair through the holes in the jewellery and tying a knot at the bottom. Sometimes the jewellery is also sewn onto peraks.

This Tibetan Turquoise Hair Bead is made of White Metal or Silver and ornamented with a large turquoise stone at the center. There are four smaller turquoises and two small coral beads on the sides..

It resembles the shape of a conch. The conch is a symbol of knowledge in traditional Buddhism.

The age is difficult to determine, probably the pendant was created in the 20th century.
