Square Double Vajra Gau

Buddhist Amulet Box

This copper gau shows on its front a double vajra / dorje. The vajra or dorje [Tibetan: rdo rje] is a Buddhist ritual object. It is the essential symbol of Vajrayana Buddhism. The term vajra gives it its name, also it is used in the Buddha's teachings.

Probably Age: early 20th cent.
