Tiger

tiger

In Tibetan iconography, the tiger symbolizes strength, power, and wisdom and is closely associated with Buddhist teachings and the protective role of deities. Tiger skins are used as robes for wrathful protective deities [Dharmapalas], and lamas use them as seat cushions during meditation rituals. The depiction of a figure leading a tame tiger on a chain embodies the understanding of wisdom over anger.
