This big Thangka depicts Padmasambhava in his classical form.

The translation of his name is "The Lotus Born".His tradition says that he was not born of a woman. Instead, he had miraculously come into the world on a lotus in a lake in Oddiyana.

This is clear from this scroll painting, for is depicted here surrounded by numerous lotus blossoms.
